No matter how cheap you got a Hauppage card for, you overpaid. Simple operation? About the nicest thing I can say about it is 'it supports Hauppage capture devices', if you got suckered into buying one of those pieces of complete crap because it was on sale. does anyone actually use XSplit any more? Requires a paid account for full functionality. But easy to use, so if you're just getting started and want something, I guess it could work? I haven't really looked into it, it's pretty severely limited.
The big problem is that it replaces core libraries with less-stable, problematic versions, which can cause crashes and other issues. OBS.Live from Streamelements is a plugin for OBS Studio, but all the functionality in it can be replicated with Custom Docks in OBS Studio. Predatory would be the polite way to describe it. It's limited at best, and intentionally made hard to move away from. SLOBS is just a cut-down, hamfisted, hacksawed fork of OBS with the front end chopped off and a webpage slapped over it, set up to lure and lock newbies into their paid vertical. There's a steep but short learning curve once you get past that, it's easily the best streaming software currently available. A ridiculous number of plugins and extensions are available for it, letting you do amazing things.
It's incredibly powerful, extensible, and free.
